Tofu chips. Place the tofu in a single layer on a clean dishtowel and cover with another clean dishtowel (I use clean cloth diapers, which work really well). Line a cookie sheet with foil and lightly brush with oil for greasing. Place the slices on sheets of kitchen paper to absorb any excess moisture.
I was browsing through Donna Hay's Autumn magazine. it was described as tofu strips~ which of course much thinner than mine :) as part of a dish. but I had different ideas. as my tofu keeps breaking up, if I were to slice any thinner hence I decided to make these wonderful chips instead. It has that nice crunch with a hint of Chinese Five Spice after. Transfer the chips to a baking tray, drizzle them with olive oil and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. You can have Tofu chips using 3 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you achieve it.
Ingredients of Tofu chips
- It's of harden tofu.
- Prepare of what ever sauce you like.
- You need of salt and pepper.
Toss the chips with your hands to coat them. Add in an immersion blender cup unsweetened soy milk, apple cider vinegar, mustard, maple syrup, kala namak, and lime juice. If it's too liquidy, add a bit more oil and blend further. To prepare the tofu: Drain the tofu and use your palms to gently squeeze out some of the water.
Tofu chips instructions
- Oven on, 200°c..
- Cut tofu into chips. Score them getly on one side..
- Place chips on an oven tray and place in oven. Cook chips for 20mins or until golden brown on each side..
- Remove from heat onto paper towel..
- Season with whatever veggie salt you like. Serve immediately with sauce..
- Note: I used my own lemon and cracked pepper salt and sweet chilli sauce..
See my guide on how to press tofu for more info. To make the flaky texture, take one of the tofu pieces and slice the tofu part way through repeatedly about ¼" apart. Place the eggs and garlic in a bowl and lightly whisk to combine. Place the quinoa, parmesan, chia, thyme, lemon rind, salt and pepper in a separate bowl and toss to combine. Dip each piece of tofu in the egg mixture, then into the quinoa crumb to coat.
